Presentation
When you design a page the first thing you think about is presentation. When you make a site you should
choose a certain type of colour scheme, I have chosen the blues and white which a cold colours hot colours would be the red and orange. You should not mix hot and cold colours. Do not put too many images on your site especially if they are animated and on the first page. I think the
maximum you should put on is four per page. If there are two many animated gifs it makes the page too busy taking the viewers attention
away from the content, not only that it also makes the page take too long to load. Do not put two bright colours on top of each other, if you put yellow
text on top of a white background it will be hard to read the text making the viewer strain there eyes.
Try to make your page inter-active such as the mouse pointer changing to a crosshair when it goes over a link.
Layout
Make sure that everything is easy to find. If you are making a resource page it is nice to have a frame set so the pages can be easily found.
Do not make your page link off to many sites such as having a sentence and in that sentence there is a link explaining a word in that sentence.
Keep all your links together and your information together. Check thoroughly to see if all the pages have been linked to.
Content
When you make a page to not make it on more than one subject because if you do it makes it harder to put keywords and it takes longer to
make the website. On your front page Explain exactly what your page is about. Do not beet around the bush when explaining something. Do not
repeat yourself too many times in your website as it would make it more difficult for the viewer to find what he or she is looking for.
With every new section you have on a page label it so the viewers would know where they can find what they a looking for.
Make sure that these labels are quite big and would catch someone's attention. The information must all ways be relevant the subject and that
means you should not stray off the topic. If you are trying to convey a message you should give examples of what you are trying to say such as
when explaining how a to make a login script you should have a view demo of the script button under the script you are trying to teach.
Navigation
If your Website is on the large side (meaning with the amount of pages it has) you should make a "website map" telling exactly where every link goes and where the links on those pages go to.
I you want to make your navigation menu look colourful you can use roll-over scripts. I prefer the text color change, but some people like the
image roll-over. If you are going to use an image roll-over script be sure to include a pre-load images script otherwise the image you want the link to
roll over to will only load when the link has had your mouse go over it.
Updating & Feedback
You should update your page often so all the information on your site is accurate. It is nice to include a date stamp to show people when last your page was updated
so the viewers know that the information is not two years old. The best way to make your page loved by all is to here what the viewers of your page have
to say and listen to them. The best ways to here what the viewers have to say is to put a forum or a guest book on your Website. I you listen to the comments
of your viewers your page will be no 1. I feel that is the problem with some of the major Websites. They do not listen to what the viewers of there Website want.
Across the Board
Your page should be able to be viewed by everyone no matter what connection, or Internet browser they use. If you have the time you should make many sets of
your pages, one for Internet Explorer, one for Netscape, one for a person with a fast connection, one for a person with a slow connection. this way all people
will be catered for on your Website.
Plagiarism
on this page I do not ming if you take my source code, but a major problem is plagiarism. You must not copy other people logos, information or even source code with
the owners permission, especially if there is a copyright notice. If you copy other people works you are considered a lazy person who can not come up with anything original.
If you do copy other people information and you get permission to use it by the owners of the material, you should say that you got the information from the owner of the material.
